Why Most Life Coaches Miss the Systemic Block - and How You Can Shift at the Source

The Coaching Illusion

Spend a few hours scrolling through social media, and you’ll find endless coaching tips:

  • “Wake up at 5 AM.”

  • “Think positive.”

  • “Set bigger goals.”

The advice sounds inspiring. Sometimes it even works — for a week. Then, life creeps back in, and the old patterns reclaim the driver’s seat.

The truth? Most coaching addresses symptoms. Few coaches know how to find — let alone shift — the systemic block that’s actually holding a client back.

The Difference Between Surface and Source

Let’s take an example.

Surface Symptom:
A leader procrastinates on key decisions.
Common Coaching Response:
Teach time management techniques.

Source Issue:
They avoid decisions because past experiences taught them that mistakes lead to punishment or shame. Their nervous system is wired to freeze at risk.
Transformational Response:
Work on emotional safety, nervous system regulation, and reframing failure as feedback.

Until you shift the source, the symptom will reappear in a new form — no matter how many hacks or habits you try.

The Three Layers of a Systemic Block

From my work at Mysticaakash, I’ve identified three common layers where the real block hides:

  1. Belief Systems (Manas)

    • The stories you tell yourself about who you are and what’s possible.

    • Rooted in childhood, cultural narratives, and repeated experiences.

  2. Nervous System State (Prāṇa)

    • How your body responds to stress, uncertainty, or opportunity.

    • Chronic fight-or-flight keeps you reactive; chronic freeze keeps you passive.

  3. Environmental Signals (Vastu)

    • The cues in your physical and digital surroundings that either reinforce or erode your change.

Why Most Coaches Don’t Get There

  1. They Focus on the Visible

    • Observable behaviors are easier to measure and market, so deeper causes get ignored.

  2. They Stay in One Discipline

    • Mindset coaches focus on thoughts; wellness coaches focus on habits; therapists focus on feelings.

    • Without integration, the block remains intact.

  3. They Skip Embodiment

    • Awareness without practice doesn’t change behavior. Clients “know” what to do but don’t live it.

Shifting at the Source: The Mysticaakash Method

Our approach starts deeper:

Step 1 — Stabilize the System

Before we address the mind, we regulate the body. Through prāṇāyāma, grounding, and micro-pauses, we create a state where change is possible.

Step 2 — Rewrite the Narrative

We use guided self-inquiry and cognitive reframing to challenge legacy beliefs. The client begins to see themselves differently — not as someone who “tries” but as someone who “is.”

Step 3 — Recode the Environment

We adjust surroundings to send continuous cues for the new behavior. That way, change isn’t just in the mind — it’s in the air they breathe.

The Leader Who Always Said ‘Yes’

A senior executive came to me overwhelmed and on the brink of quitting.

  • Surface Symptom: Too many commitments, constant stress.

  • Source Block: A deep-seated belief that saying “no” equals rejection and loss of worth.

Through nervous system work, narrative reframing, and workspace redesign, she learned to pause before agreeing, evaluate alignment, and communicate boundaries without guilt.

Three months later:

  • She had cut her workload by 30%.

  • Her team respected her more for her clarity.

  • She had energy left for her family — something she thought was impossible before.

How You Can Apply This Today

  1. Ask Better Questions

    • Instead of “What should I do?” ask “Why do I keep doing the opposite of what I know is good for me?”

  2. Check Your State

    • Notice if your decisions come from calm or chaos. Change the state before you change the plan.

  3. Adjust Your Environment

    • Surround yourself with cues for the behavior you want — and remove cues for the behavior you’re trying to end.

Final Thought

Real transformation doesn’t happen when you fix the visible problem. It happens when you dismantle the invisible structure that’s been creating that problem all along.
